"I first sought Jenny Janda’s assistance to help with controlling my blood sugar. I had recently been diagnosed with diabetes and wanted to try to control the disease with diet. I knew that I needed to lose weight and that I would need accountability for that process to be successful. Jenny analyzed laboratory reports from my physician, my eating habits and my food likes/dislikes and designed a plan to suit my individual needs. She has urged me (successfully!) to work on a regular exercise program and she put together a series of daily stretches specifically targeting my own trouble spots. First of all.....I hadn't planned to enjoy Zumba.  I was just going to try it a few times because I wanted to be part of something new and exciting for Jenny but let's face it - deep down in my heart I knew that I needed it.  So when I began to enjoy myself at the classes - I thought - this is not like me - I've committed to something and I'm not only enjoying it but  I'm actually getting good at it.  Well, as good as a 53 year old - over weight and out of shape woman can be.  Aside from just feeling better about myself - I've also seen a few small changes.  My arms are more toned.  Now to some people that may not seem like a big thing but I don't especially like my arms flapping in the breeze so seeing and feeling a difference in my arms is a big thing!  I'm not saying I have Michelle Obama guns (yet) but at least the extra flab doesn't slap me in the face during the upperbody workouts. I looked up at myself this past week and I actually started to recognize the "old Connie" again. 

Last but not least..........when you don't feel good about yourself or your weight - you don't enjoy shopping for clothes and you REALLY don't feel like trying them on in a tiny little dressing room (that has a HUGE mirror).  So for the last couple of years I've found myself just picking things off the rack that look like they will be big enough and taking them home to try on in the privacy of my own home.  If they fit - great and if they don't - just hang them in the back of my closet until I lose some weight or more likely -  give them away when I don't lose some weight.  Well, Friday I bought two new pairs of capri pants to wear to the coast.  I was actually a little nervous that they would not fit and that would be disappointing because I really liked them. 

Well guess what?????  They didn't fit - but in the best way ever!  They were too big!    I can't wait to go back to the store on Monday morning (after Zumba class of course) to buy two more pairs - but this time in a smaller size.   I know these are all little things that other people may not notice  - but they are more important to me that you can imagine.  Thank you so much for bringing Zumba classes to us and for all your hard work and support!  I've made lots of new friends in class and I finally feel as though I'm doing Zumba for ME!”
